QUEBEC – The Parti Quebecois government tabled what it called a “responsible” budget on Thursday.
It was aimed at erasing doubts over the party’s economic record and blunting opponent attacks ahead of an expected spring election.

The budget seemed to be designed to limit the sting of its rivals, who have repeatedly criticized the party over its management of the economy.
