TORONTO – A crowdfunding campaign has launched in a bid to get an ‘average-sized’ doll to market.
Nickolay Lamm, 25, from Pittsburgh, Pa., created computer renditions of a doll based on measurements of an average 19-year-old American woman.

Now, Lamm has decided to bring his creation to life through Crowdtilt in hopes of selling the Lammily doll, which carries the tagline “Average is beautiful.”
Scaled up to human size, the Lammily doll model features average proportions of a typical 19-year-old girl’s 31″ waist, 33″ hips and a 32″ bust compared to the measurements of Barbie dolls, which have an 18″ waist, 33″ hips and a 36″ bust.

The Lammily doll has brown hair, minimal makeup and is designed with articulated wrists, knees, elbows and feet.
“I got a lot of requests from parents and kids to create the Lammily doll after they saw my ‘Real Barbie’ project last year,” he said in an interview with The Associated Press. “Lammily will be a new character in the doll world, something that they’ve never had before.”
