Education Minister Liz Sandals was elected to her third term in 2011, defeating the PC and NDP candidates by more than 7,500 votes. The riding has gone to the party forming government in each election since the district was created in 1987.

With a median age of 37.4, it’s the 20th youngest riding in southern Ontario. There’s not really a “second language” in Guelph, as the most common mother tongue after English is Italian at just 1.92 per cent.
