EDMONTON – A man who was shot four times by an Edmonton police dog handler five years ago has renewed his efforts to get the officer charged.
Kirk Steele has filed for a judicial review of a Crown decision to stay a charge of aggravated assault against Sgt. Bruce Edwards.

Steele’s lawyer says his client wants Court of Queen’s Bench to order the attorney general to go ahead with the prosecution.
A judge ruled last fall that the charge of aggravated assault was warranted.
Steele was shot when he stabbed a police dog who was chasing him after he was caught with marijuana in the bathroom of a house.
The first court appearance related to the review is set for Sept. 16. (CHED)
