REGINA – A Regina high school is beginning the search for a new team name.
Balfour Collegiate is asking students, staff and the community for submissions online.
Balfour is retiring the nickname “Redmen”, which had been in use for decades.

Though the First Nations headdress logo was phased out by 1995, Regina Public Schools decided to make the change after consulting community elders.

Proposed names will be considered by a committee that includes Balfour alumni. A new name is expected to be chosen in 2015.
Earlier this year, Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon changed its name from the “Redmen” to “Redhawks”.
