Canada tops France 4-3, to secure quarter-final spot at world hockey tourney

PRAGUE, Czech Republic – Jordan Eberle and Tyler Seguin had the goals as Canada edged France 4-3 on Saturday to remain unbeaten at the world hockey championship.

Jason Spezza added two assists for Canada (5-0), which remains atop Group A.

Julien Desrosiers, Yorick Treille and Damien Fleury replied for France (1-4), which was outshot 43-21.

Eberle’s power-play goal at 10:42 of the third proved to be the winner, which was redemption for the Edmonton Oilers forward as France’s tying goal came after the puck bounced in off Eberle.

France rallied from a 3-1 deficit to tie the contest in the third.

Martin Jones of the L.A. Kings stopped 18 shots for Canada, which faces Switzerland on Sunday.
