CALGARY – Police are hoping witnesses to a violent downtown attack on Wednesday will come forward.
Investigators said the victim was standing at the northwest corner of Macleod Trail and 7 Avenue S.E. at around 1 p.m. when he was approached by a man who asked him if he was selling drugs. When the victim replied “no” the suspect pulled out a knife and slashed him across the face.

The victim was able to walk to a nearby medical clinic for help. He was rushed to hospital with a significant cut to his face.
Investigators believe the attack was random, and said the two men did not know each other.
Police describe the suspect as between 30 and 35-years-old, with black hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve blue dry-wick shirt, black and red shorts and white running shoes.
The victim told police there was a second man with the suspect who took off with him following the attack. He was approximately 6 ft tall and was riding a BMX-style bicycle.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the attack to call police or contact Crime Stoppers.
