HALIFAX – Opposition leader Jamie Baillie is calling for the Liberal government to take action to make changes to the mental health system in the province, which he says is broken.
“There is a crisis,” in the mental health system Baillie said Tuesday, as he introduced a bill calling for a public inquiry into the mental health system.

The bill calls for a commission to be put in place, “directed at making the mental health system more effective, more accountable and otherwise better,” and, “suggesting next steps pilot projects and review mechanisms to ensure appropriate changes are made.”

Baillie plans to introduce the bill on Friday during the fall sitting of the legislature.
