Montrealer allegedly threatening to ‘kill one Arab a week’ is granted bail

Jesse Pelletier, 24, was in court Monday after appearing in a video threatening to "kill one Arab a week."

MONTREAL – A Montreal North man arrested in connection with a YouTube video that allegedly shows him wearing a Joker mask and threatening to “kill one Arab a week” has been granted bail.

Jesse Pelletier, 24, was arraigned last Wednesday in connection with the video, which was made after the attacks in Paris.

Pelletier was charged with uttering threats, using a fake weapon, inciting fear and making a declaration against an ethnic group.

“For him, it was a joke. A bad joke obviously,” said defence attorney Audrey Amzallaq.

The accused was diagnosed with a bone defect at birth and suffered an accident about a year ago.

He appeared in court last week in a wheelchair.
