WINNIPEG – The City of Winnipeg says thousands of tickets issued during winter parking bans are illegal. But those who were fined and have paid will not be seeing any refund.
In an email statement the City of Winnipeg said it “recently came to the City’s attention” that the Know Your Zone system violates the provincial Highway Traffic Act. Under that law signs need to be put out to warn drivers that their street will be plowed.

Without the signs tickets can only be given from 11 pm to 6 am.
Effective immediately the city said it will only issue tickets within that time frame.
