The union representing striking workers with the Chronicle Herald says management has rescinded layoff notices that were handed out to staff.
Employees have been on strike since Friday at midnight. On Saturday morning, 18 photographers, editors and newsroom support staff were handed layoff notices.

Frank Campbell, the vice-president of the Halifax Typographical Union, says their bargaining committee met with representatives from the company briefly Sunday morning.
The two sides will meet again Sunday afternoon. Campbell says they are in “talks” with the Herald but they are not negotiating at this point.

He says the union wants clarification on some issues and gave management some information for them to consider when the two sides meet again.
Campbell says the union is ready to get back to the table anytime the company wants to.
“We would rather be writing stories and taking photos and editing copy than standing on the street with a sign.”
