Boundaries: Selkirk is bordered to the east by the Lac Du Bonnet riding, to the south by St. Paul, to the west by Gimli and to the north by Lake Winnipeg. Most of the riding’s population is located in the city of Selkirk. Other communities in the riding include Lockport, Patricia Beach and Grand Beach.

Last Election: NDP’s Greg Dewar won his sixth term, defeating Progressive Conservative candidate David Bell by more than 1,200 votes, 55 to 39 per cent.
History: Selkirk was created by redistribution in 1957, and has formally existed since the provincial election of 1958. The riding has generally been safe for the NDPs since 1969, although the Liberal Party held the seat from 1988 to 1990. Former Premier of Manitoba Howard Pawley represented Selkirk from 1969 to 1988. The NDP’s Dewar has held his seat since 1990.
