WINNIPEG – A poll done by Mainstreet Research following Tuesday’s televised debate has Conservative leader Brian Pallister as the winner.
Manitoba’s only televised debate with the leaders aired on Winnipeg news stations, including Global from 6:10 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Mainstreet surveyed 998 Manitobans who watched the debate. The survey’s margin of error was plus or minus three per cent, 19 times out of 20.
Manitobans were asked, “who won the debate?” and answered:

- Pallister 44 per cent
- Selinger 24 per cent
- Beddome 19 per cent
- Undecided 10 per cent
- Bokhari 4 per cent
People responded very well to Green Party leader James Beddome, who was the only candidate with a positive score in terms of favourability, which is measured by positive minus plus negative.

When the same people were asked, “who will win?” 60 per cent chose the Progressive Conservatives with 17 per cent answering NDP. The Green Party with five per cent edged the Liberals with three per cent and the rest of voters said they were undecided.
