Unusually warm Winnipeg weather welcomes Santa

WINNIPEG — Santa Claus is coming to town, but you wouldn’t be able to guess with the temperatures the city is hitting.

Saturday is expected to hit a high of 14 degrees Celsius. If it does, that’ll break the old record of 13.2 degrees in 1981.

It could quite possibly be the final weekend of unusually warm temperatures for the foreseeable future as well. With Environment Canada calling for snow in the Winnipeg forecast for Thursday, November 17th.

According to Environment Canada, this day last year (November 12th) saw very different temperatures than the city has been experiencing lately. With a high of only 1.9 C on November 12, 2015.

Last year’s Santa Claus parade, held on November 28th, saw a high of only -4.2 C. This year, temperatures are expected to drop by the time Jolly Old Saint Nick makes his appearance. But, nowhere near even the highs of last year’s parade temperature.
