OTTAWA – The value of building permits issued in Saskatchewan during February dropped according to figures released today by Statistics Canada.
The agency says the overall value of permits decreased 10.9 per cent from the previous month, down from $224.6 million to $200 million.

On a yearly basis, permit values were down 3.1 per cent.
The drop can be solely attributed to a decrease in residential construction intentions, with the value dropping almost 25 per cent from January and down 14.7 per cent year-over-year.

The agency says $115.0 million in residential permits were issued in February, down from $152.8 million the previous month.
Non-residential values were up 18.5 per cent to $85.0 million.
Nationally, building permits worth $6.0 billion were issued in February, an increase of 1.7 per cent.
