Traffic restrictions starting up around Saskatoon

SASKATOON – Motorists return to work from the August long weekend to traffic restrictions starting up on Tuesday in Saskatoon.

Starting around 1 p.m., 33rd Street West will be closed between Steeves Avenue and Byng Avenue. Detour signs will re-route traffic via John A. Macdonald Road.

The closure is required to extend 33rd Street into the new Kensington neighbourhood and is expected to last until August 20.

Phase 1 of the 20th Street West Streetscape Improvement Project also starts tomorrow.

Eastbound lanes will close between Avenues F and E on 20th Street West. Two-way traffic will be accommodated in the westbound lanes. Avenue F will also be closed south of the intersection for one block.

This phase is expected to take four weeks.

The city of Saskatoon is asking motorists to allow extra time when travelling near construction zones, watch for pedestrians and work crews and obey all detours, signs and barriers.
