Police catch alleged Calgary poppy thief

CALGARY – Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection to the theft of several poppy donation boxes throughout the city.

Bryan James has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

Officials say they used surveillance video to identify the suspect.

The arrest involves the theft of two boxes at a Co-op gas bar in south Calgary, and one box at a Co-op gas bar in the northwest.

The Calgary Poppy Fund hopes to raise $1.3 Million this year

The money goes to pay for food shelter and medication for veterans and their families.
