The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has called in the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) to investigate after an officer discharged his weapon during a police incident near Jasper Avenue and 121 Street on Tuesday.
EPS says officers were called to the area around 3:15 p.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance.
It was reported a male was threatening other people inside an apartment suite with several edged weapons.

A large number of police vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances responded, and a wide area was taped off to the public.
Police said officers located a man matching the suspect’s description.
A confrontation occurred between the suspect and another resident, and an EPS officer ended up discharging his firearm.
A 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
EPS said none of the officers or apartment residents were injured.
