Ontario cyclist dies in hospital after collision with parked trailer

One cyclist has died following a collision with a parked trailer, Durham police say.

The incident happened on Friday around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Coronation and Lyndebrook roads in Whitby.

Police said a cyclist was travelling northbound on Coronation Road when he collided with a parked trailer.

Emergency personnel located a 68-year-old cyclist suffering from life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
