WINNIPEG – John Schmitke lives with hemophilia but he doesn’t let it slow him down.
The Morris, Man., man is the chairman of the Canadian Hemophilia Society – Manitoba Chapter’s youth committee and is active with the society’s national youth committee.

He’s going to Australia in May for the World Federation of Hemophilia’s World Congress and spoke to the Morning News on Thursday, World Hemophilia Day, about the trip.

“I’m just going to try to show people who are less fortunate what hemophilia can be like,” Schmitke said, explaining that in less developed countries it’s more difficult to receive proper care.
