How much is true love worth?

WINNIPEG – Meet Alyce: she’s 5’5″, loves to travel and enjoys nice dinners.

She’s also looking for Mr. Right but is having a little trouble.

“Once you get to a certain age, there’s not a whole lot of places to go to meet someone,” said the Winnipeg senior. “You want to go to a good-quality place. Not some bar where people hang out.”

So what do you do when your search for a soul mate hits a dead end? If you’re like many singles, you open up your wallet. The average online dating site client spends about $240 a year. If the Internet isn’t your thing, you can always pay someone to catch you a catch.

“I will go anywhere to find the right match for (my clients),” said Lianne Tregobov, a matchmaker who runs Camelot Introductions. “They don’t have to wait for him or her to show up. I will go and find them.”

Tregobov’s services start at $600 and run into the thousands of dollars.

“People can retain me for a year,” said Tregobov. “I will spend up to $5,000 advertising on their behalf and that service costs $10,000. That service is for a higher maintenance client.”

Companionship can be costly.

But when you do find the one, that feeling is priceless.
