Calgary police help deserving kids with their Christmas shopping

Police officers doubled as personal shoppers on Wednesday as they helped deserving kids buy Christmas gifts.

The ninth annual “CopShop” event kicked-off at Marlborough Mall, aiming to foster positive relationships between the police and youth.

Kids were chosen based on need, academic performance, sports achievement and volunteer efforts.

They each received a $200 gift card donated by Marlborough Mall.

“CopShop is a wonderful way to give back to the community, while making the holidays a bit brighter for well-deserving youth,” said Kim Wiltse, marketing and specialty leasing director at Marlborough Mall.

CopShop launched in 2005 at a Halifax shopping centre, and has since been adopted by 20 shopping centres in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia.
