One woman dead following crash east of Calgary

RCMP respond to a crash at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564. Global News

CALGARY – RCMP say one woman was killed in a crash east of Calgary on Tuesday.

It happened just before 9 p.m. in the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564.

Investigators believe an Cadillac SUV was travelling eastbound on Highway 564 when ran a stop sign and struck a southbound semi trailer.

The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old woman from Strathmore, died at the scene. She was the only occupant in the vehicle.

RCMP say the victim’s name won’t be released due to a request from the family.

The driver of the semi trailer wasn’t injured.

It is unknown if alcohol or speed were factors in this collision.
