Victims of violent assault on Morley First Nation speak out

CALGARY – Victims of a violent attack on the Morley First Nation are speaking out.

Friday afternoon, six people were sent to hospital following a vicious brawl. Fiona and Justin Yellowface both received broken arms and bad bruises; Justin had to be airlifted to Foothills Hospital.

“I have a broken arm… he’s got 16 staples in his head,” says Fiona.

They say a stolen van full of six people arrived at their home Friday afternoon; a fight broke out and quickly escalated.

Several people were beaten with bars and three more were run over, including a 62-year-old woman who is now recovering in hospital.

Police say several weapons were seized including bars or clubs. A machete was also found inside the van but wasn’t used in the assault.

19-year-old Fergus Hunter is facing a number of charges in connection to the assault including dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Cochrane RCM say charges are pending against three others.
