MONTREAL — At least two people have died after an ultra-light plane crashed in St-Lazare, an off-island suburb west of Montreal.
Quebec provincial police told Global News the accident took place at 12:30 p.m., in a field next to Cité des Jeunes.
As the plane had been completely destroyed when flames lit the gas tank on fire, officials could not confirm whether there were more than two passengers aboard.

The cause of the crash is still unknown.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said in a statement that a team of investigators has been deployed to the site.
