The open house was aimed at allowing residents to provide feedback for both the city and GMH Architects, the developer applying to have the project approved.
The development proposal calls for the rezoning of the old Patricia Motel at 7730 101 Avenue NW to allow for the tower to be built. The building would also be connected to another six-storey building with both residential and commercial units facing 101 Avenue. The developers say their plan would include no more than 300 residential units and include underground parking.
“We did meet with the community league president and the ward councillor several months ago – earlier in the process when we were looking at a draft development,” Michelle Ouellette, senior planner with the City of Edmonton, said. “The feedback was somewhat supportive in that the community does want some redevelopment to occur for this underutilized, rundown motel.”
