The family of a gay-rights activist killed four years ago in Halifax have wrapped up their lawsuit with the province’s health authority.
Raymond Taavel was beaten to death outside a bar on Gottingen Street in April of 2012.
Andre Noel Denny pleaded guilty to manslaughter last fall and was officially sentenced in March for the killing.

At the time of Taavel’s death, Denny was a patient at the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth and left without permission.

Following his death, the Taavel family launched a lawsuit against Capital Health, who operates the Forensic Hospital.
The lawyer for the Taavel family says the lawsuit has been resolved and that no details will be released.
In December, the provincial government made an official apology to the family of Raymond Taavel.
