EDMONTON – Five people have been taken to hospital by both ground ambulances and STARS Air Ambulance following a serious collision on Highway 16 near RR 32.
“Two people suffered life-threatening injuries, while three others are believed to have received serious but not life-threatening injuries,” RCMP said Saturday.
Police were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m. Saturday. Two vehicles were involved in the collision.
Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 16 were closed for several hours while RCMP investigated. Motorists were detoured around the collision.

The westbound lanes remained open.
