WINNIPEG — They’ve been counting down to this day for weeks.

The roughly 30 members of the Hedges Middle School running club received their brand new Skechers running shoes on Tuesday. The sneakers were provided to the students by Global News, 680 CJOB and Skechers to put them on the road to the finish line of the Manitoba Marathon‘s Super Run.

Hedges Middle School is one of 100 schools participating in this year’s Manitoba Marathon Champions in Training program. The goal is to introduce kids to an active lifestyle.
The Manitoba Marathon takes place June 19.
