RCMP recover body of missing teen last seen swimming

RCMP have recovered the body of missing teen in southern Manitoba, after he went missing after swimming with his friends on Wednesday.

According RCMP, the 17-year-old boy was found by divers at about 10:45 p.m. on Friday night.

RCMP were called to a nearby dam in the R.M. of Rhineland, approximately 30 km east of the town of Winkler on Wednesday. The teen had been swimming with his brother and a friend but after entering the water, did not resurface.

Water in the area had become fast-flowing due to recent heavy rainfall in southern Manitoba, according to RCMP. He was eventually found approximately 70 metres from the dam.

The investigation continues.
