Laval police are investigating after a body was found in a burnt-out car in the parking lot of a Walmart on Robert-Bourassa Boulevard Friday evening.
The discovery was made shortly after 9 p.m. when firefighters responding to a 911 call about a car on fire, put out the blaze and discovered the charred remains of a person sitting in the driver’s seat.

Police have determined that the car belonged to a 59-year-old man, but it is not known whether he was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.

According to Laval police spokesperson, Lieutenant Frédéric Jean, an autopsy will be required to identify the victim.
Jean said police do not believe a crime was committed and are trying to determine whether the fire was set accidentally or not.
