A strike involving 140 garbage collectors in Peel Region has ended after the union and the waste management company agreed on a labour deal, Peel Region officials confirmed on Friday.
Negotiations broke down between the union and one of Peel Region’s two private collection companies Wednesday evening with workers hitting the picket lines Thursday morning.
The dispute involved the waste management company Emterra Environmental and the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 183.
Details of the tentative agreement were not released.
Peel Region officials said in a tweet that regular garbage and recycling will resume.

The strike affected more than 140,000 residents in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon.
