Penticton saw goals from Gabe Bast and Taylor Ward.
Penticton outshot the Vipers 38-24.
Game two is 6 p.m. Saturday in Penticton.
The Chilliwack Chiefs beat the Victoria Grizzlies 7-3 Friday night.
