Hamilton’s public education system is receiving a $33-million injection.
Education Minister Mitzie Hunter has announced that the funding will support the construction of two new grade schools and 149 new child-care spaces.

One of the new elementary schools, for 682 students, will be built in the city’s east end.
The other, to house 495 students, will be built in Stoney Creek.

Hunter made the announcement on Monday morning at Glen Brae Elementary, a school that is slated for closure and to be replaced by one of the new facilities.
The local funding is part of a $255-million investment in school infrastructure, province-wide.
