Hamilton’s planning committee has voted to oppose a pair of controversial residential towers.
The so-called “Television City” condominium project calls for 618 units within 40-storey and 30-storey towers at what is currently the CHCH TV site on Jackson Street West.
City planners deem the proposal to be incompatible with the surrounding neighbourhood and they also oppose it based on “sun shadow impacts.”

Developer Brad Lamb has already appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board but insists he is willing to compromise and “come up with a development that we can all live with,” including councillors, planners and neighbours.
Several residents of the Durand neighbourhood spoke against the project during Tuesday’s committee meeting.
