Driving 10,000 miles in 33 days is an ambitious feat but for Enderby’s Glen Duthie, his participation in the Peking to Paris classic car rally may help find a cure for a degenerative disease.
On Sunday, Duthie and his friend Allen Cullen from West Vancouver left the Okanagan for the coast in their 1939 Cadillac La Salle. The car is going to be shipped to China for the May 28 Peking to Paris rally.

The pair is participating in the rally to raise money for the UBC Brain Research Centre.
Duthie’s wife was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when she was only 43 years old, which puts the fundraising effort close to his heart.
“To be able to do something, especially in connection with the UBC Brain Research Centre, which is doing absolutely phenomenal work in the area of brain disease, it’s a great opportunity for me and everybody to contribute to seeing some real breakthroughs in this area,” said Duthie.
“We’ve got a checklist of probably 200 to 300 items on it. We’re making sure we got our flashlights, sleeping bags, wrenches and all the bits and pieces necessary to keep us on the road,” said Cullen.
100% of the funds the pair raise during the rally will go to the UBC Brain Research Centre.
