REGINA – A group called “Regina Water Watch” has launched a petition drive opposing the city’s plan to use a private-public partnership to build a waste water treatment plant.
Council has already voted to go ahead with the project as a so-called P-3.

Under the proposed agreement, a private company would design, build, operate and maintain the plant under a lease deal with the city.
Mayor Michael Fougere says using this method of funding allows the city to get money from the federal government.
Some people believe P-3’s end up costing taxpayers more money in the long run and could be bad for local workers and contractors.
