City of Kawartha Lakes police taser Lindsay man said to be resisting arrest

City of Kawartha Lakes Police deployed a conducted energy weapon on a man they say was violently resisting arrest on Saturday afternoon.

Police say a resident in an apartment discovered their wallet had been stolen and that a credit card had been used to make purchases in Lindsay.

Officers investigated and identified a suspect who was later located at the apartment building.

“When the male was placed under arrest, he began a violent struggle with officers,” police stated on Monday. “As they were attempting to gain control of him, a female counterpart attempted to intervene to prevent the arrest.

Officers then deployed a CEW to gain control of the 34-year-old man.

Adam Perry, of Lindsay, is charged with possession of stolen property obtained by crime under $5,000, using a stolen credit card, resisting arrest and escape from lawful custody. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Kristy Brobbel, 33, of Lindsay, was charged with obstructing a police officer. She will appear in court on Aug. 16.
