North Shore Rescue deployed to Mount Seymour for pair of lost hikers

Two unprepared hikers from Ireland had to be rescued from Dog Mountain near Mount Seymour Sunday.

The pair was hiking down from the mountain when they went off the trail and became lost.

They called 911 as darkness fell on them sooner than anticipated.

North Shore Rescue team leader Mike Danks said crews located the man and woman near a trail called Magic Kingdom, about 600 metres up Mount Seymour, and were walked out safely at 8 p.m.

The pair was not injured but cold, because they weren’t dressed for the weather after the sun went down. They were wearing sneakers and did not have a flashlight.
