ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating online death threats aimed at Premier Kathy Dunderdale.
The threats appeared on a Facebook page that criticizes government cuts to provincial funding.
Online commenters suggested the premier should be assassinated and her house burned down, said Justice Minister Darin King on Tuesday.
The premier says that on at least two occasions people have approached her in an aggressive manner while she was out in public.

Dunderdale says she’s is being more careful about where she goes.
Meanwhile, police say their investigation does not include Gerry Rogers, an NDP member of the legislature whose name appeared on the Facebook page.

Rogers was found in contempt of the legislature yesterday after she refused to apologize for being a member of the Facebook group.
Rogers says her name was added to the group without her knowledge.
King, who is also the Progressive Conservative government’s house leader, says the government has had a rough ride since it tabled the spring budget.
The budget delivered in late March cuts 1,200 public sector jobs as the province faces a growing deficit.
