THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Thunder Bay police say they are investigating the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a First Nations woman last month as a possible hate-motivated crime.
Police spokesman Chris Adams says the woman reported that her assailants made comments with “racial overtones” during the Dec. 27 attack.

Police say the 36-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was abducted by two white men in their mid-30s while walking around 9 p.m.
It’s alleged she was forced into a green two-door vehicle, taken to a rural location on the north side of the city and sexually assaulted.

Police say she reported the alleged crime the next day and was taken to hospital for treatment.
She has since been released.
