Edmonton police are investigating after a man working at a 7-Eleven store was stabbed during a shoplifting incident early Monday morning.
The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven location at 122 Avenue and 97 Street.
According to police, two people — a man and a woman — entered the store and attempted to shoplift.

When the 44-year-old clerk attempted to intervene, he was stabbed.
The clerk was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspects fled the scene and have not yet been located.
It’s believed there were two witnesses in the store at the time of the incident but left by the time officers arrived.
