The long dry summer is hanging around in southwestern British Columbia, and so are the wasps.
Wasps are out later than normal and they’re here in huge numbers, making life miserable for patio lovers enjoying the last days of sunshine.

Wasps can also be deadly for those with allergies. A 60-year-old man from Vancouver Island died on July 30 after being stung by a wasp.
A local pest control company says this year they’re getting at least twice as many calls about wasps as last year.
They recommend using old-school traps like inflated paper bags or pheromone traps to deter wasps.
