RCMP in Nova Scotia have taken a person into custody, after issuing an emergency alert Thursday night about a man who was allegedly armed with a knife in Cole Harbour.

The initial alert, which went out at around 8:40 p.m., warned residents in the Greenborough Crescent area to shelter in place.

It added that officers and the K-9 unit were actively searching for the man, who RCMP said may not have been wearing a shirt.

A second alert sent at 9:45 p.m. said the man had been taken into custody and there was “no longer a risk to the public.”

“Officers have taken the man into custody in the area of Greenborough Cres. and Bissett Lake in Cole Harbour,” RCMP wrote in a Facebook post.

“The man is being transported to hospital by EHS. There is no longer a risk to the public. The emergency alert has been cancelled.”
