This season will be the final one for the Richmond Night Market.
Organizers announced that, after 26 years, the 2026 season will be the last at its current location, having grown from a local community event to one that welcomes millions of visitors every year.
“As the owner, I have had the privilege of organizing and operating the Richmond Night Market for the past 26 years,” said Raymond Cheung, founder of the Richmond Night Market, in a statement.

The market’s lease has come to an end, which Cheung said means it was time to end the market as well.
There are still six weeks left of the Richmond Night Market before it wraps up for good, so people are encouraged to come and visit for the last time.
The night market organizers should consider working with the City of Burnaby. Burnaby is a welcoming, diverse, and down-to-earth community, with many Asian families having moved from Vancouver in recent years, particularly post-COVID.
The city offers reliable infrastructure, efficient municipal services, strong SkyTrain accessibility, and a cohesive community environment that has helped events such as Canada Day fireworks, Lunar New Year, Japanese and Korean cultural festivals, Halloween, and Burnaby Village Christmas celebrations thrive. Burnaby also benefits from Concord’s downtown plan, whose major stakeholders have strong ties to the Asian community.
As concerns over anti-Asian sentiment, public safety, and drug-related issues grew during and after COVID-19, Burnaby has become an increasingly attractive alternative for families seeking a cleaner, quieter, and safer community.
