The federal government and Alberta are pledging to build at least 1,460 affordable housing units across the province.
Ottawa will provide up to $220 million through Build Canada Homes, a federal agency formed to speed up the delivery of the housing, while Alberta will pay up to $165 million.

A news release says the 21 planned housing projects will include supportive and transitional housing.

There is a target of building at least 500 homes using modern methods of construction, including off-site and factory-built approaches.
Build Canada Homes and Alberta will also establish a “joint collaboration table” to identify priority projects and coordinate investments.
They wont build a single unit that wasnt slated to be built or increases the average output of new homes just like none of these anouncements has ever resulted in more building.

Factory built homes = mobilie/modulars. Anyone done the math? That works out to $263,700 per modular home. That is not even counting the extra money Alberta is planning on getting (from where?). These are supposed to be low end, affordable housing???
Price-check: $80,000 -$150,000 would be a reasonable price.
For the price that the governments are doing it. I contracted a 2,400 sq foot, top end home, turn key.
Affordable homes for Canadians or Immigrants? Where is the extra money coming from?

Again people it is not government funding. It is taxpayer funded and will do nothing to lower the costs of of living even to those that qualify to purchase these “Low Cost Home subsidized by the Canadian taxpayer “

Throwing tax dollars at this issue will NOT create affordable housing. When there are carbon, plastic and packaging taxes that go into everything that it takes to build, furnish and maintain a home.
