British Columbia NDP Leader David Eby says his party will introduce a new tax bracket for those who earn $1 million or more to help pay for health care, if re-elected.
The leader made the announcement Sunday, while campaigning in Comox on Vancouver Island, after he toured ridings in southern British Columbia ahead of the Oct. 24 election day.

Eby says he will offer additional details about the new tax bracket at a campaign stop in Victoria.
He says his party cheers for those have been financially successfully, but it is also right to ask “people who earn a little bit more to pitch-in in a moment like this,” when strong public services are needed.

The announcement comes after Eby said his government would introduce price guards for certain groceries, as well as gasoline and diesel, while temporarily lowering the provincial motor fuel tax by 10 cents per litres.
Eby said during the early phases of the campaign that his party would introduce a new tax on empty condominiums and lift the speculation and vacancy tax.

Why doesnt the NDP try and create some wealth in this province with infastructure?. maybe if you grew a pair and stood up to the FN and get some mining going, or pipelines built or get a refinery built. Six Months ago 90% of MLAs who actually “do” represent the electorate wanted DRIPA to be amended, suspended or repealed. Fact. Eby who represents all BC was the initiator of the amendments and suspension. The Public Land Use Society, PLUS, is putting out poll numbers of 66%, 75% and 86% that represent the opinion of those surveyed wanting the decision making powers fully back-with elected officials.
Angus Reid polls had 47% of British Columbians support repealing DRIPA outright.53% feel DRIPA goes too far in limiting provincial authority, a rise from 44% in August 2025. Only 30% view the act as a necessary step toward reconciliation, dropping from previous years. 26% of past BC NDP voters surprisingly support scrapping the law.
These are the numbers that represent BC.

The only strategy Eby has is to knowingly make promises that he knows he has no intention of keeping once he is premier again. If he really meant what he says he would have implemented those promises at least while he was in government for the last 4 years. The only thing authentic about Eby is ……………… NOTHING !!!

Another empty promise that could have happened a year ago. How many times have we heard tax the rich and it never happens or they create more tax loopholes so nothing changes. It’s no good getting more money for healthcare if it’s going to we wasted on ideas that don’t help the shortage of medical personnel. How much money has been spent on the big recruitment campaigns to bring people from the USA to BC and how many doctors and nurses did we get for that money. They are the questions that need answering

The rich are not stupid… There are more means to avoid taxes. Prime Minister Carney’s wealth is all in tax havens.
A tax rate of 24.5% is too low. It would be much better to have a 100% rate directly. It would be much more civilized than robbing.

A good accountant usually manages to whittle income down, but, yes, More tax can cause business movement out of province. There seems to be no attempt to examine and streamline public sector management costs. In particular, why are there 3.8 workers per manager in health care ? Strangely, Finance Minister, Brenda Bailey, is not available for comment, nor has the NDP kept its election pledge to make changes to the province’s health authorities. Looks like Eby is attempting misdirection of attention.
