Lotto Spot street teams will be out across the prairies next week asking people one thing: “What would you do with $85 million?”
With no ticket matching all seven numbers on Friday night’s Lotto Max draw, players now have the chance to win $85 million, the largest jackpot in the history of Canadian lotto.
“This is a first for LOTTO MAX, and we want to celebrate it with players right here in the Prairies,” Kevin van Egdom, a spokesperson for Lotto Spot said in a news release. “It’s been exciting to watch the conversation grow across the Prairies as this jackpot has climbed.”

The last major Lotto Max win came in December 2024, when a player from Hamiota, Man. shared the jackpot with a winning ticket sold in Quebec.

Earlier this year, Lotto Max upgraded its jackpot cap to $90 million and added new $100,000 prizes on every draw.
The $85 million draw will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Alongside the $85 million jackpot, the draw will offer 16 prizes of $1 million and 85 additional prizes of $100,000 each.
“With no ticket matching all seven numbers”
No surprise here, the reason no one wins is because of how difficult it is to match the numbers. If there were fewer numbers ( at present seven numbers from 1 to 52) the odds would be better. Perhaps if the choice was with 7 numbers from 1 to 40 there would be more winners. If no one wins then no one wants to play.
Not to mention the larges cash grab by government
Why not a million each for 85 winners? The Lotto is looking like a scam when picking just one person to win all of that money. How would anyone know for sure if the winners of those big lottos are related to the Provincial governments? Years ago the Super 7 Lotto shared winnings between 2-4 winners with the same numbers.
Lotto Super 7 was a national lottery game in Canada, operated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC). It was launched on June 10, 1994, and its last draw was on September 18, 2009.[1]
Drawn every Friday night, the lottery had a guaranteed jackpot of CA$2.5 million, which was carried forward to the next draw if no purchased ticket matched all seven numbers in that draw. The largest jackpot awarded was in May 2002, in which four winning tickets shared a $37.8 million jackpot.
The $1 million and $100,000 prizes should be guarantied wins but then they actually have to give away some money…
Not hard when you make it harder to win the top prize.
I would much rather see smaller prizes going to more people. Most people would benefit from 1 or 2 million. Maybe even 5 million. I’ll keep buying my BC 49. I can’t afford to lose $10+ a week on a very slim chance that I’ll win.
Yah , yah we all know its a..tax..on us poor . Still ya can’t win without a ticket , so spend 10 bucks on a slim hope or that loaf of bread you been saving up for. And hey , if win a chunk , you get that fixer upper in Saskatchewan.
When I win I’m headed south. Maybe Florida. Less tax. Great healthcare as I get older. And of course the tachuck brothers! Go panthers!!
While the USA power ball lottery ticket is at $485 MILLION today. Worth the drive south, lol…
No Tickee No Laundry!
85 draws of $1 million…but only a few actually win.
Nobody wins! Except the government..Boooo! Sadly I will buy one ticket, because just like Jim Carrey said “so your saying I have a chance?”
The odds of getting 7 numbers in a row is very difficult. Even the 2nd prize, 6plus the bonus number is very tough. How about 80 prizes of $1 million? Give the people across Canada some hope of winning something! 1 winner of $80 million is ridiculous imo.
” largest prize in history of Canadian lotto”
Because hardly anyone wins.
All Fixed anyways!!
