Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to attend two Forever Canadian rallies in Alberta this week, just ahead of the province’s referendum.
On Oct. 19, Albertans will vote on the whether to stay in Canada or hold a future separation referendum. There are also nine other questions involving constitutional and immigration issues.
The “Forever Canadian” campaign, launched by Alberta’s former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk, seeks to encourage Albertans to vote to stay in Canada.
The organization’s website says Carney was invited to one rally in Calgary on Oct. 15 and another in Edmonton on Oct. 16. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed Carney will attend both.
“We want the country’s leader to see what we see every day: Albertans from every walk of life standing up for a united Canada,” says the Forever Canadian website.
Carney, who grew up in Alberta, focused his Thanksgiving Day message on Alberta’s upcoming separation referendum, saying Canada is “worth fighting for.”

“This year, Thanksgiving is a bit different,” he said in a video message posted Monday and filmed at his old high school in Edmonton.
“A week from today, Albertans will have the opportunity to make an important decision about their future: whether to remain part of Canada or begin a long and uncertain process through which Alberta could separate from Canada.”
Carney said the federal government is building “big things” in Alberta — including a planned new pipeline to the West Coast — but Canada can’t achieve those goals if the country is divided.

- Feds open to supporting elements of Divorce Act amendments, but fate unclear
“You can’t build big things on fault lines,” he said.
Carney also said Canadians are “stronger together” as they face down threats to their economy, security and culture.
“Generations of Albertans helped build this country. It’s yours, it’s ours, and it’s worth fighting for,” he said.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is expected to deliver his own speech supporting Canadian unity in Calgary on Friday.
Poilievre is set to speak during the Canada Strong and Free Network conference on Oct. 16 in Calgary. His speech is expected to be followed by an address from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

The ” man for the job” has done nothing for Canadians but provide smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that the Liberals caused massive problems over the last decade and have lost control of trade, the economy and the Country as a whole.
Expect nothing but pipe dreams, political posturing and cheap talk from these clowns because that is all they are capable of .
He’s virtue signalling. Not a word about any possible help for veterans, disabled people or everyone struggling just to survive.
Eat sh *it you cu nt, Carney.
Yeah, no influence peddling there. F*ck off Carney you weasel!
Oh and yes, Liberal insiders, being the old white men they are, talk loud because, ya know, their hearing sucks.
And, to be specific: How is Carney alleged to only be a millionaire if not to ignore his substantial assets Canada cannot tax due to jurisdiction?
Central Banker twice? Investment Banker who has had obvious pre-knowledge of his interest rate decisions with limited financial scrutiny?
Now PM of Canada making fiscal policy while having a previous relationship with the person making current monetary policy?
Millionaire only? If it’s honesty, it’s kinda pathetic.
Carney is a fraud of a Canadian. He has spent most of his time abroad, specifically in the US and Europe.
He comes home every now and then to lord over us, buy up a few more companies, signs some documents to avoid Canadian taxes and then leaves again.
This time, because he’s such a patriotic Canadian, he surrounds himself with a Democrat level of Canadian celebrities known for living abroad most of their lives.
They don’t pay Carney’s taxes but are happy to let you know they support his policies.
He is possibly the only member of his immediate family born in Canada but its hard to say as media really likes skirting around the whole family man Carney talk.
Maybe international man of boring doesn’t endear itself to children? We can only speculate.
Liberals love monetizing fears of American style politics yet went full, not just slogan, but violent slogan, in their last campaign.
Unless you wanna give me a multi-million dollar contract with the NHL you had better keep your elbows to yourself buddies n bad times.
Was not born and raised alberta
Mark Carney was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories
He moved to Edmonton at age six in 1971 and left for Harvard University in 1983.
His kids are also in USA schools right now. Guess he loves Canada but loves USA education even more?

October 14, 2026 at 12:49 pm.. The way you see the separatists is the way ottawa sees Alberta. We are a small fringe minority with unacceptable views so just shut up and keep paying. WEXIT ASAP!!!
The truth is buried under a mountain of liberal lies
Big difference between Alberta and Brexit, Alberta has HUGE oil and gas reserves, which the world needs
Free assault rifle and thousand rounds to every adult citizen of country of ALBERTA
Trump’s gonna shat down carnholes throat
A few dozen people over 70 . Good luck. MAID for all
Notice most of the attendees of these rallies are …older women.
Yes to the 9 and option 2 on question 10 is the way.
@ nacho business – Both sides are not equal. The separatists are a tiny, loud, angry, contrarian minority that has been gifted an equal amount of coverage. They are only worth this hassle to the Premier because they all vote UCP. They are not worth this hassle to the country.
Shut down her manipulative attempts to placate the cranks in her party. Vote ‘no’ to the nine referendum questions and ‘remain’ to question ten.
It’s amazing how people are so dumb in thinking that alberta will be better ff without canada….but if they want to go….GOD RIDDANCE….
ALBERTA WILL BE AN ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE without canaduh!
Traitor carney obviously not working for all Canadians, if he was he would meet with both sides. Reminds me of trudeau in regards to the truckers and the unvaccinated.
Go f *uck yourself, Carney
It’s the Prime Ministers job to campaign for the federalist side.
@ Incontinentia Buckets – If you are sincerely motivated by your kid’s futures you should look at what happened to the UK under Brexit. The GDP shrank. The UK kept more of a smaller pie. It was a net negative to the standard of living.
British PM Andy Burnham has said that “Brexit has done more harm than good”.
@ Me – What a load of nonsense. Smith indulged the cranks in her party with the Alberta Next tour and has arranged this farce to keep them from splitting the UCP back into the Conservatives and Reform/Wildrose/Republicans.
Still no funding reported for this political campaign. #LOCKTHEMUP
Hopefully this doesn’t have the opposite effect. I’m certain that Eby’s little Thanksgiving Day speech has already convinced some people to seperate.
@Fern Born and raised in Edmonton.
This is his home.
That’s ok. Carney is the biggest reason for independence.
This is the push back from unhappy Canadians with the poor lie beral federal government. People want change. Very unhappy with Ottawa.
It’s not about politics, Ben. It’s about my kid’s futures.
Hopefully he is lost and never seen or heard from again.
Mark Carny and the Liberals are responsible for this by pushing leftest ideologies and failing to see how dissatisfied a large part of the population is. The Liberals have been careless and incompetent for a decade and this is the result. We need pipelines not talk about pipelines. The red tape has to be cut. BC and Quebec have to stop standing in the way, and indigenous groups need to start getting on board or this country is going to break up and eventually be taken over. Open your eyes Canada. Make Carny put his money where his big mouth is.
Yes to the nine! Yes to Independence!
Get out and vote Alberta! Regardless of how it goes, we are the only province in Canada that has a government that cares enough to even ask our opinions.
Alberta is the best – bar none!
So are we going to hear from the usual peanut gallery of people disparaging a politician from a different level of government interfering in local affairs, or is that only an issue when Smith does it?
Can only help drive separation
Thanks A hole
The Poilievre conservatives in the comments who have zero loyalty to Canada are making the usual comments. Still playing politics with the unity of our country.
Of course he’s attending these! Please, piggy bank, please don’t leave or the rest of the country will crumble financially like a stale cookie. It’ll be a third world country without all the money that Alberta provides.
Daughter who lives in states…
Moved operations to states six months before taking office….
US educated….
Hmmm, yeah Czarney all about Canada….
Pinocchio game changer !
Eby needs to be shot dead.
What’s a foreigner doing at Alberta rallies?
Carney should stay as neutral as possible and not attending any of the rallies.
Carney is going to have a full belly of jiz when he fkys back to Ottawa
@ bobs ya uncle, keep sipping tea and fantasizing about giving head to clowny
…looks like the russian help is posting on here trying to reach the mouth breathers with their grade 6 level ‘messages’…stay in school kids…too bad PP is late to the party here, guess he couldn’t upset the separatist’s wing of his party…
Stop interfering, you little f *uck Carney.
Is he going to give head to as many cunatards as possible?
When Liberals stop supporting separatism? Going to lose the Khalistani vote
Is he there to be a human toilet?
Go Carney! Go Canada!
