It appears that Vancouver is going to have a new mayor.
Pete Fry is projected to be the next Vancouver mayor, beating out incumbent Ken Sim.
In a speech to his supporters, Fry said it was a bit overwhelming to receive the news.
“Putting your trust in me and my team here, we’re not going to let you down,” Fry said.
“We love the city a lot, and we’re here to work for the city, to fight for the city.”
Fry said he has a great team, some great ideas and they are going to get started right away.
Sim acknowledged that politics is a hard job and it can take a toll on families.
“You know, public life does ask a lot of the people that are closest to us,” he said.

Sim said that voters obviously wanted to go in a different direction and it is important that is acknowledged.
“Tonight marks the end of my time as mayor. Actually, that’s not true. I think I have a couple more weeks left, so yeah, all right, let’s make some changes now,” Sim said.
“Anyways, I just want to say thank you for being elected to the office of mayor. You know, it’s been the highlight of my life.”
Colleen Hardwick came in third, with Kareem Allam coming in fourth.

Vancouver swung further left. I guess we know how the provincial election will end up. I already knew Canadians didn’t care about democracy, everything they’ve done over the past decade has cemented this belief. Just remember, losing freedom happens little by little, not all at once. There was a time when the government worked for the people, when they did something wrong, we held them accountable and voted them out. Now the people work for the government, we do as they say or suffer the consequences. Is this really what we want?
I didn’t like ABC and Ken Sims. He was a corporate foreign investment weasel. But Pete Fry is worse. He’s a socialist tree hugger commie. Couldn’t have Vancouver got someone more centered. Ken Sims was an overreaction to lack-of-Vision Vancouver moonbeam. Thank God I left Vancouver 12 years ago.

Vancouver has mild weather, so there should be more bicycles on the public roads. Making bike lanes will simply add to the traffic congestion. I wonder if the Greens realize that when it is raining (as in almost all winter) nobody is out getting soaked splashing to work.
Transit is the answer, not trying to force people into dangerous bike lanes.
I wonder if the population and housing problem will increase when Carney plows up land to put in another oil terminal. Where are all those workers going to live… Everyone going for selfies, but not thinking things through.
